Help us build something good for both.

Both Bowls is an AI-powered recipe platform for people who want to cook wholesome meals for themselves and their pets. Dogs and cats first, with more animals coming soon. We are based in Massachusetts and have launched.

Both Bowls is an equal opportunity employer.

Open roles

Two roles are open right now. Both are primarily remote, with in-person time in Boston as needed.

Senior Software Engineer, Mobile & Technical Lead

Primarily remote Engineering
Compensation
$50 to $80 per hour, depending on experience. Recent grads: about $26 to $30 per hour, in line with our intern stipend.
Where
Primarily remote, with occasional in-person collaboration in Boston, MA.

About this role

Both Bowls is a web app today and needs to migrate to a native iOS and Android app. This role leads that migration end to end while also serving as the technical anchor for our intern engineering team, answering questions, reviewing pull requests, and helping less experienced interns grow into stronger engineers.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the mobile migration (React Native or Capacitor) from our current React/Vite web app, preserving existing features including barcode scanning, photo scanning, recipe browsing, and user authentication.
  • Own technical decisions across the stack and set direction for the intern engineering team’s day-to-day work.
  • Review code, unblock interns, and mentor them on real production practices.
  • Manage priorities and task assignment for the technical team alongside the founder.
  • Deploy to the App Store and Google Play.

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with React Native or Capacitor and the broader React ecosystem.
  • Startup experience, comfortable with ambiguity and a small, resource-constrained team.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior engineers or interns.
  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats.

Marketing & Content Lead

Part-time Marketing
Compensation
$35 to $45 per hour, depending on expertise. Recent grads: about $26 to $30 per hour, in line with our intern stipend.
Hours
Part-time.
Where
Primarily remote, with flexibility for events and occasional in-person work in Boston, MA.

About this role

We need someone who can own our marketing and content presence part-time: building our social channels, creating content that actually stops the scroll, and helping shape how Both Bowls shows up publicly as we grow.

What you’ll do

  • Manage and grow our presence on Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube.
  • Create, shoot, and edit short-form video and photo content.
  • Plan and run email marketing campaigns and newsletter content.
  • Track engagement metrics and turn them into concrete next steps.
  • Represent Both Bowls at events as opportunities come up.

What we’re looking for

  • A strong visual and creative eye, someone who knows how to frame a shot or cut a video that makes people stop scrolling.
  • Real video editing skills. You will be the one cutting and editing our short-form video content, not just shooting it.
  • Comfort with content tools (Canva, CapCut, or similar).
  • Strong writing voice and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who can run with a project independently.

How to apply

The process is the same for both roles.

Send your application by email

Email everything below to careers@bothbowls.com.

Email careers@bothbowls.com

What to include

  • Your resume. Attach it as a PDF and also paste it as plain text in the body of the email.
  • A cover letter or a video. Send either a cover letter of 500 words or less, or a 2-minute video (.mp4), explaining why you’re applying and what you’d bring to the role. If you send a cover letter, attach it as a PDF and also paste it as plain text in the body of the email.
  • A portfolio link. Preferred.
  • A reference sheet. Include at least 3 professional references.

Good to know

  • Exceptional recent grads may substitute 1 academic reference for one of the three (2 professional and 1 academic).
  • If you completed a Northeastern co-op with a prior employer, you may submit that employer’s end-of-internship review in place of your third reference. You still need at least 2 professional references.
  • OPT graduates with EAD already in hand are welcome to apply.
